Clicks, Maths, Explosions and Goo

Today’s review comes with a special treat: four puzzle games that are entirely original. These four gems were well hidden underneath all of the others that conform the Puzzle Games section at Bgames.com, but here they are, dug out for your reading – and playing – pleasure.

Entangled is the first of this set, and it is probably the simplest of all four. There are about six different levels in which you will find puzzles with a different number of pieces. Now, instead of dragging the pieces around in order to solve the puzzle and get a complete view of the pattern on top, you just click on them, which will induce rotation. How can you know when a piece is actually in the right position? Well, huge hint: there are no loose ends. Taking that into account makes the whole thing a lot easier, despite that the biggest challenge is, of course, the number of pieces in play. What? You seriously didn’t expect to have everything already solved, right?

Well, hopefully you don’t, because Backwards is the opposite extreme to Entangled: probably the most difficult game today. The idea is still simple: this is a kind of numeric crossword in which you have the results to a given number of mathematical operations. Your job, then, is to find which number from 1 to 9 goes where. Mind – wrecking, in my opinion.

Luckily, Colors in the Sky 2 is a good game to relieve all the tension after playing (and failing miserably to solve) Backwards. There are plenty of levels from which to choose, but of course the premise is the same: to eliminate all the items in the fewest possible moves. There are different types of them, and even though no matter what you click it will always result in a chain reaction, the kind of piece will determine its pattern and other related features. Once a chain reaction is started and pieces blown up, the surrounding will move to the vacant places, but not in a top – bottom direction (which would be the rule in similar games), but towards… our hero. Yes, there is a hero in the middle of the screen, who will be freed once we eliminate all the items around him. On top of developing a clicking strategy, you should also take into account other factors such as your hero’s health. Pretty complex, huh?

Meeblings is the last game today, and it features multicolored chinchilla-like balls of goo as its starring characters. Among these creatures you can find different kinds, with different characteristics, of which you will have to take advantage in order to achieve the goal. What would that be, you may ask. Well, rescuing a target number of meeblings, of course! The game features over thirty levels of fun, each introducing a new difficulty and a different way to save the meeblings. How different exactly is one of those things that you will have to see for yourself.
