The difference between Puzzle and Board Games is sometimes shady, and there are certain games that only confirm this idea. Today’s selection features two games that could easily pass as puzzles and another two which are unlike any other board games you have ever seen (which is a polite way to say that they have been inexplicably put in that category and I cannot figure out why).
First, we have Pollekes Blue Room, which is a whole lot like Maya’s Treasure and Antiquities Storehouse (but without Mayans or old stuff). Basically, you are stuck in a room full of clues that will help you to get out; the challenge – and the problem, of course – lies in figuring them out. There are no instructions, but then again that would probably ruin the whole concept, right? As result, you have guaranteed fun for a long time, believe me!

The thing about Sigil of Binding is that when I first thought about how to describe it, I could only think of something along the lines of “this is a puzzle, through and through”. The game presents a certain number of seals that you must complete by turning the pieces over and over until the picture is visible. However, if you think about it for a little while you will realize that the level of difficulty varies according to the initial position of the pieces (which and how many of them are turned) – the pattern on top is irrelevant. Still, looking at different drawings makes things a lot less monotonous, so kudos to the developers for coming up with that.

On the other hand, Fruit Machine belongs to the second group of games I mentioned, games which are totally different from other board games. As a matter of fact, this one completely resembles one of those machines usually located inside casinos; its functioning is quite similar, actually. You need to place a bet, then pull, and just wait and see what fortune has in store for you. That is pretty much it, but hey! You should give it a try, and see how that works out for you.
Now, Kinetikz is the kind of game that could be labeled and assigned to many different sections. Truth be told, after playing a couple of times I had the distinct impression that it could be better located in the Sports Games section, for this is a bit of a mix between pool/billiard and (maybe) air hockey. Of course, there is no such sport, but do we really care? This is fun and entertaining, and there are three different difficulty levels to be enjoyed, each composed by any phases presenting various obstacles.
Come to think about it, who cares about the classification? Really!
