Featured Misc Games
The reasons why we may be attracted to a game and not others have always been at the center of game development. They are so subjective that there is little logic in them – and plenty of surprises.
For example, I have a friend who is a musician (well, he tries to, that has to count for something, right?). He wrote a song called Ok, I wasn’t Romeo but you were definitely NO Juliet –yes, he’s a bit of an emo kid. Now, what has that completely unrelated piece of information got to do with anything? Absolutely nothing. That’s right, nothing. And yet that is the reason why I became interested in the first of today’s games: Romeo. In this is great new Shakespearean Mario-like game, instead of rescuing the princess, you must find Juliet in order to prove her your love. Other changes include earning points by collecting chapters of Shakespeare’s plays (instead of your average coins), and an overall 1600s feel. Boy, am I glad my friend wrote that song!
Now, Rope Car has nothing to do with romance. This is the car game version of those circuses in which a girl has to walk on wire from one side of the room to the other. The objective of the game is collecting all the stars without falling, and trust me: controlling the car is extremely difficult! However, what makes the game most entertaining, is that you not only get to drive the car over the rope, but you also have to create the rope yourself. Sometimes you can do it before the wheels start rolling, but sometimes you just have to do both things at the same time. Yes, you read right, it’s like a nightmare; believe me, you’ll need all your brain and skills to complete each level.
However, my worse nightmare comes in the form of Scriball. The problem with this game is that it seems so easy, and it is so difficult, that I end up feeling stupid –seriously, it’s not even funny. Here we have a yellow ball, and a green circle. The latter is our goal, in which we must put the ball. Of course, nothing is as effortless as it seems, there are obstacles that the ball cannot touch – or we lose. These obstacles take different shapes, depending on the stage, adding difficulty to the level. Other than leading the ball with out black line, we can also make it jump using the left button of the mouse – which took me a long time to realize. See? This is not good for my self-esteem.
Luckily, the last game is Music Catch, which I found oddly relaxing. The objective of the game is catching the yellow shapes and avoid the red ones, as classic music plays in the background. And, if you get really lucky, you might even be capable of catching a purple piece (those are the best ever). Still, you know what? I can tell you how great the game is, but nothing beats playing it yourself. Just give it a shot.
