Featured Classics

Finding versions of video games we played when we were kids is something entailed in the concept of a Classic Games section, and, in that sense, today has definitely been a very productive day. Who does not remember Sonic the Hedgehog? Well, I’m just another face among the crowd of people who spent hours and hours playing Sonic on my Sega console. I was pretty confident that my friends and I had played all the Sonic games that came out, but apparently not: all but Sonic Earth. That is sort of fitting, since this is not like the other games, but a human version of the character; one that makes you feel closer to the character and the game in general. Of course, some things never change: controls are the same, the way you kill your enemies is the same, and the Fun you get is the same, if not more.

Now, if we talk equations, 1945 kIII = A-w-e-s-o-m-e. I am fascinated with this game. As you know I love planes, a lot, and this game in particular is excellent. First, you have to choose a plane with a specific nationality – of course, that may not be the reason behind your choice, I chose Italy because I liked the design of the plane. After that, you are assigned to a mission in which to have to destroy the enemy. These missions take place all around the World, from the Big Cannon to Beijing, which is a nice detail. Planes have a normal attack that changes when you collect the power ups that appear in screen as you destroy enemies, and there is also a special attack, involving two ally planes that come and help you. And trust me. They do help.

In the case of Forever Part 1, I only started playing it because the title caught my attention, but then I started to like it, little by little. So, what do you have to do here? That’s easy; just collect all the sharps to unlock the next level. In the upper left side of the screen you’ll find three rods. The first one indicates your vitals, the second one your ammunition – you can reload your weapon during the game – and the last one your experience, which increases as you kill monsters. It’s a short game so I’ll let you find out the rest all by yourself.

However, today our last game is the best. OutZone is very easy to play, similar to many games we have played before. Commands are fairly normal: you move with the keyboard arrows, and you attack with the X (normal attack) and C (special attack) keys. Your mission is to complete each level destroying enemies Rambo style. Easier said than done, of course, but in any case it is worth a try. Good news is that after dying, some enemies will leave behind a sort of box with upgrades. There are different weapons, each with its own charm. You just have to try them all.
