Beach Board
Today’s topic is Board games, which I really enjoy. They take me back to summer time during my childhood, when I used to play a lot of games like these with my friends, my siblings and even my grandma. I still play some of them, particularly when in the beach. You know how it is: the guy who sells magazines often comes and you end up buying one or two of those because you are kind of a nerd anyway, and besides there is no one in the beach, and… surprise! There are labyrinths, and “tell the difference”, and all those kinds of games. That, or you simply pack the games along with the towels and the sunscreen… I tell you, there is nothing like getting away from everything by playing these games in front of the sea.
The first game I chose for the day is one that my grandma taught me, probably one of the most popular board game along with chess: Chinese Checkers. This is a virtual version of it, to be played in the exact same traditional way as the one you can buy almost everywhere. The point of the game is to clear the board leaving only one chip in it and eliminating the rest by “jumping” over them. It may sound simple, but it is tougher than you can imagine.

Now, when I saw High Speed for the first time, I thought it would be a racing game or something. Then I saw poker cards and I imagined a poker game or blackjack; something like casino games but faster. However, I was wrong; nothing to do with cars or poker. The game itself is like a solitaire in which you have to build stacks of cards of the same color (starting with A, all the way to K). The cards fall down all mixed up and you have to drag them to their own stack. The challenging part is that, as the name of the game says… they fall very quickly.
The third game of the day is Major Slant, which takes place in a kind of labyrinth with 4 arrows in the middle. These point, as expected, up, down, left and right. There is a ball, and what you have to do is get it to the other side of the map without leaving the path. How are you supposed to do that? Yes, by clicking on the arrows in the middle. Sounds easy, huh? Try it.
Finally I chose 6 Differences, because this is the kind of game I always play when I’m bored: one of those games that come at the end of a magazine along with sudokus or crosswords. The name of the game indicates its goal: the objective is, precisely, finding 6 differences between two pictures that seem identical. Very simple, and very entertaining. In this case, it should also be pointed out that the images are extremely beautiful, and let me tell you: if you play it with a little background music, you will enjoy it a lot more.
