Lucky Ben10
Once again, entering into the Kids Games realm is like plunging into the unknown; a bit like diving into the Twilight Zone, for adults such as me. In this case, my journey throughout the section left me with one definite question: who the heck is Ben 10? Furthermore, why would he be worth my time?
Well, it turns out this cartoon makes for excellent, if varied, flash games. The first is Ben 10 Alien Balls, a board game not unlike others we have already reviewed. The objective of the game is of course clearing the screen, by clicking on any balls, ahem, sorry, alien eggs, gathered in groups of three or more of the same kind. There are different levels and, of course, a time limit. Something to spice things up a little bit.

Ben 10 vs. Robots is the first of the three platform games featured today, and by far the most basic. The title says it all: your enemies are a bunch of robots, your job is to defeat them. How so? By reaching the end of the level. That means that you cannot kill them: you just have to avoid them. In the mean time you are also supposed to collect as many coins as possible, for which there are props to help you jump higher and reach unlikely places. Still, no transformations yet.

Wait, what? Transformations, you say? Well, it turns out that that is the thing about good old Ben: thanks to his watch, he can transform into ten different aliens in order to defeat his enemies, overcome his challenges, etc., etc. That is included in Ben 10 Power Splash, except for the fact that you do not really control when you get transformed, and into what. You use your keyboard to move and attack your enemies, and at some point you run into a plus sign. That’s when you hit the jackpot and automatically get transformed into another creature, which often implies a change of scenery (or setting, at least) since the first alien is a marine creature and the second an air-bound alien. Now, if you let your enemies hurt you somehow, you get transformed back into regular human Ben, which is not good. Not a pretty picture, believe me. Graphics, however, are pretty impressive.

Finally, there is Ben 10 Savage Pursuit, which exploits all the good aspects of this cartoon. This is, as mentioned, a platform game that has it all: you can make your way as human Ben, who – shockingly – is not helpless, or you can transform into one of the four possible aliens, each with its own characteristics, strengths, flaws and special attacks. There are enemies, but this time you do not need to run away: you can very well kill them. Graphics are awesome, and overall, so is the game.

Almost had me convinced to try and tune in sometime. Who knows? It might be fun, after all!
