Featured Games of the Week

Classifications are supposed to follow a certain criterion, right? Which obviously means that everything is in a certain place for a given reason. The fact that these games are listed as “Featured Games” means that there is something special about them. They might be new, they might be original, they might be unconventional, they might just be unbelievably fun to play: whatever it is, it is worth giving these games a try.

Mining Truck falls into the category of Racing Games, and it is a bit like Mountain Rescue Driver (which has already been reviewed here) with a couple of twists. The objective of the game is reaching your destination as fast as possible with as many rocks as you can, throughout eight different levels. That means that there are no obstacles other than the ups and downs of the road, which still require that you do your best to balance the vehicle in order to prevent it from flipping, and all the rocks from falling out of the truck. Pretty tricky, in itself.

Shark Mountain is a weird game. You control a shark that lives in some sort of natural dam in a mountain. Mean people want to blow it up, which means that, of course, you are totally entitled to eat them. Actually, that is kind of a must. You direct the shark with the left and right arrow keys, and I have found it is quite convenient to think of this as Jaws in reverse: we are actually rooting for the shark to win in this one. Oh, wait, I did that with the movie as well!

The First Olympic Tidy Up is a pretty fun game, which would be worth our time even if it was the most horrible, boring game in the whole world if only because the intro is genius! GENIUS! Other than that, your job consists of cleaning as many amphoras possible as fast as you can, a task that becomes more and more difficult as levels go by. You can also buy six statues which will grant you tiding super powers, making your life a whole lot easier (and Zeus a whole lot happier, mind you). An original premise, for an original game.

And then we have Stark Tower Defense. As a game, it resembles Frontline TD, which has already been reviewed here. Of course, it features most Marvel Comics superheroes so, how can anyone resist? The idea is that there are troops being sent to destroy Stark Tower, so you must position defense towers in order to eliminate all enemies and possible threats before they reach the place. There are two difficulty levels and five different types of towers to choose from (each based on a Marvel character), all of which can of course be upgraded — if you have the money to do so!

In conclusion, these particular games justify their being featured in the main page. Is the rest up to that, also? Well, that is for you to decide.
