Sports Games Featured at BGames.com
Motivated by the fun that was Ragdoll Goalie, I decided I should try BGames sports games. However, I wasn’t ready for the incredible variety the site has to offer. How could I properly choose a tennis or a soccer game, amongst all the possibilities?
So I didn’t. I figured I would have to pick a sport and try each and all related games, so I rearranged the list in alphabetic order. This is the result: a batch of air-themed games. Well, not really, but the word is in each name and that drove me to investigate them more in depth.
Air Hockey has always been one of my favorite games, which means that having a game with that very same name made it a sure pick. The rules are pretty much standard, and you have to use your mouse — with all its implications as regards control and sensitivity. The game is set as some kind of air hockey world cup, which means that the level of difficulty cannot be chosen; it increases as you defeat your opponents and advance in the tournament. 9 countries take part in this championship, ensuring an interesting game duration (8 matches). Then again, at the end of each match you get a password for that level, so that you won’t have to play it again if you don’t want to. Talk about being thoughtful…

After that, picking Air Hockey 2D was a no brainer, given my previous choice. Same rules (which explained in the first screen you see), same controls, different game. In this case you have three levels of difficulty, but even the easy one is quite challenging. Then again, maybe I’m just mouse-impaired!

Air Balls is a typical case of games that look simple but are actually quite difficult. As it is very well explained, you have to bounce in your head all the balls that are thrown at you. Of course you can let them rebound against the floor or the sides of the screen, but you have to do all you can to keep them in the air; you will be fine as long as the balls are moving. Points are awarded for each bounce and honestly, I would like to interview some of the highest scores and ask them about their technique!

However, at least in my opinion, Air Show is the most difficult game of all four. You have to control different planes each phase and get them to maneuver according to the instructions in order to complete the level and achieve the objective. That is, before running out of time. Your mouse controls the speed and direction of the plane, which means that the game requires steel nerves, making it even more interesting. Mastering this one is no easy feat, believe me.

In any case, all of these share a common advantage, other than being utterly fun: no one will ever be able to accuse you of not being a sports person again!
